Most phone providers and many businesses use this service. There are posts on this feed that explain exactly how this number works and what happens when you pick up the phone. There is an unfortunate individual who spams up all the phone number checking sites with very obvious fake scam reports about this number.Anyone who gets audio text messages via any of these service numbers will recognise they are fake. These posts are dangerous in that they can mislead some people into missing their message.

SCAM so called message from lloyds bank saying there was a £200 transaction on my account, it was lloyds bank number that fraudsters had spoofed, i knew my bank would not phone and ask for my details so its a scam no doubt about it. How anyone can come on this site and say its safe is a complete moron  and to claim all genuine scam posts are fake is in my mind up to no good  if you look on other sites its the same green posts been left, this peson is not genuine and is out to get people scammed, all you have to do is check out other sites to see im telling the truth, one site as been shut down for months now and all the fake green posts have been deleted  thats all the proof needed to prove this green poster is a wrong one

Fully automated text to speech to landline translation and relay service number. Most phone providers use this BT system to ensure text messages sent to non text enabled housephones are delivered. Plenty of information about how this service works has been posted on this feed. You will ALWAYS be told the originating number when you pick up the call. That will be the number to report onto the system set up by the government working with the police and OfCom to deal with them. Details how to report onto this system have been posted below. This number is legit and mostly safe. Scam numbers must be reported onto the official government system set up to deal with them. And then report THAT number on this site.

Had 5 calls from this number recently. One the other week from BT telling me my new router was on its way. This is in preparation for the optic fibre Digital Voice switch rolling out across the country over the next couple of years. Two telling me the switchover had taken place and to plug my broadband and phone into the new router, and two reminders. Thing is, this is the fully automated text to speech to housephone translation and relay service. It calls housephones when a text message is sent to it. If I hadn't been aware of what to do before the switchover and hadn't already plugged in my phone and set up my broadband, I would not have got the last 4 messages! The other concern is this BT audio text service used by most phone providers cant work on answerphones and keeps on and on trying to deliver the message until it times and the message is deleted. I am aware that most people ignore unknown numbers calling them and assume a scam unless a message is left. But the number is safe.

It's an audio text service. Calls when a text is sent to your housephone instead of your mobile. Just pick up the phone and listen. Do not press any buttons on your phone. The message will be read out without needing to do anything except listen. Most of these texts will be from someone you know sending the text to your housephone instead of your mobile by mistake or it's a business that you know that has your housephone number as the contact and sending an automated message. Be aware most phone providers use this BT system. You will always be told the originating number when you pick up. Should a scam message get through, the number to report as the scam on this site and by text to 7726 will be the originating number not this fully automated relay service number. This service cannot work on answerphones and will keep on trying to deliver the message until it times out and deletes the message after 24 hours. Emojis, links etc can cause the entire message to fail. More info below

It's the BT audio text service. Calls when a text is sent to a housephone. Most phone providers use this BT service. The phone system recognises the text has been sent to a non text enabled phone and is diverted to this BT system that will attempt to translate it to audio. Gifs emojis etc will cause the message to fail or spout nonsense numbers. When you get the call and pick up, BT will announce itself and tell you the originating number. You will then be given options to press buttons on your phone. Ignore the options. The message will be read out when the bot voice runs out of options. This service is free to answer. It will not work on answerphones. It will keep trying to deliver the message until it times out and deletes the message after 24 hours. You can change the curfew time that this number can call or not call or block the number at source by calling freephone 08005875252 from your housephone

IT IS NOT BT! Sounds like BT and asking to press 1, 2 etc to get to your messages... but probably costing you a lot of money! Hang up and go into your answer machine, by pressing 1571 - and there is nothing there! IT IS A SCAM! It might be a 'proper' BT number that appears on your telephone screen, but it is not them - maybe a clone?

It's the BT text to speech to landline translation and relay service number. Cold Call regarding "voicemails" requiring input purporting to be from BT. Call asks for an option to be chosen to be directed to corresponding supposed unheard voicemail message (to be redirected to another number). Disconnects 7 seconds into call after no options are chosen.

Seems to be the standard BT message, apparently "parcel farce" were delivering £5 million in £1 notes and needed a fee to be paid, so deleted all of the saved messages as the same phish

Clearly stated a mobile number which when checked was a mate and a text was sent to me on my landline (I'm with talk talk) it's a BT service on all providers ,not sure how it can be mistaken for a scam if you are of sound mind !

This is the BT text to voice reader service. If someone tries to send a text to your landline it will read it out for you. Unfortunately it does have a habit of dropping the line as soon as you answer, but it will call back later. It is safe.

Pretended from BT and that my landline had received a text and it had gone to BT's messaging service. a) I'm not on BT, b) my landline provider doesn't accept texts to any messaging service, c) on another 'look up site' someone else was told this number purported to be from Nationwide. It can't be all these various things so SCAM. Avoid. Don't press anything.

Just had 4 phone calls from this number this morning starting at 6.30am. As I did not recognise this number I did not pick up. Extremely annoying. How is it that certain individuals can get hold of my number and that of others to irritate and annoy? BT and other large telecom companies should have more robust filtering systems in place!

Throughout the year I've had 4 calls from this number and have never answered. After the first two I blocked the number and they don't bother me anymore but my phone shows they tried twice today 21/12. In the last three days I have had 6 calls from various numbers. All unrecognised numbers, including this one, go to voicemail. Where no message is left, calls are ignored. If someone is trying to send a text message to my landline, it's unsolicited and whoever sent it obviously doesn't know me.

Automated call at 4 am! supposedly from 02 saying that a SIM card would shortly be delivered. This came from information I had given to 02 the previous day. Put phone down after the usual message about pressing 1,2,3 or 4.

Received a call today 7.30am, did not answer. Rang again 10 mins later so I did answer and it was genuine call informing me that Parcel Force were delivering a genuine order around 11.00 am that same day. The call did ask for me to press 1 to hear the message.

BT Messaging Service, as others have said before. You've received a text message on your landline and option 1 will get it read out to you. I believe you can set the times between which you receive these calls, so you should be able to get rid of those pesky late night/early morning calls. I haven't tried it myself, but I'm sure I heard something about it as I was deleting the message and hanging up.

Says it is an SMS message and I should press 1 to retrieve it. As this is a business rate number I didn't recognise, I didn't press 1 or call back.

Phoned five or six times and didn't answer as unknown number. When I did was told me I had a text message and to press 1 but I didn't.

Audio text service number. It's owned and operated by BT and is used by most mobile phone operators and some businesses to relay audio translations of text messages that someone sent to a landline. Free to answer. The system will ALWAYS tell you the originating number before giving various options. Try it by sending a text from your mobile to your landline.

I have had dozens of calls from this number in the last 36 hours. I answered it once but it called off. No one spoke. It's now blocked but still try This is very sinister

Missed call yesterday at 09:38, True Caller will not allow calls unless the caller identifies who they want to talk to so the phone didn't ring.

automated message telling me it was BT calling there is a SMS message for me from Vodafone and to press buttons 1-4 to retrieve. No e-mail/call from Vodafone so no action taken.

Text to landline service as safe as it can be can't understand the negatives on here if you know the number calling just listen to the message if you don't then don't it really is that simple.

called me 4 times in an hour starting at 22-13 pm on 22/12/2020 called 6 times following day from 8-13 in the morning did not answer.
